Happy New Year School Expectation Update

Happy New Year Buljan Families,

It was so great to have our students back on campus with their smiling faces, greeting friends and ready to make 2024 a successful year!

We invite you to join Buljan’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Team. Your input is vital in promoting positive behavior, creating a safe environment, and implementing effective strategies.

Meeting monthly on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30, we discuss and collaborate on PBIS initiatives. Your perspective as a parent is invaluable, contributing to the success of our program.

Benefits of joining:

  • Contribute to positive behavior strategies.

  • Collaborate with educators and support staff.

  • Stay informed on school-wide initiatives.

To join, please contact Kelley Barrett, our PBIS Coordinator, at kbarrett@rcsdk8.org.  Your commitment to a positive school environment is highly valued.

Thank you for considering and supporting Buljan.

Last week, our teaching staff will be dedicating time in their classes to review and reinforce key behavior expectations and policies with our students. Your support and understanding in these areas are essential for creating a positive and effective learning environment.

Lunchtime Expectations:

  • Our focus is on enjoying lunch in a safe, accountable, respectful, and kind manner.

  • We discourage large groups (6+ people) on the blacktop for safety and supervision reasons. Students are encouraged to engage in fun activities and/or relax in designated areas.

  • Lunch times are specifically allocated for different grades to ensure better management.

Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy:

  • While these devices are allowed, responsible usage is imperative. They must be silent or off and stored away during class.

  • Posting on social media during school hours or without consent is not permitted.

  • Respectful cooperation with staff regarding these rules is expected.

Dress Code: Our dress code promotes a safe and productive learning atmosphere, allowing for self-expression within set guidelines. These are detailed in the Buljan Parent/Guardian-Student Information and will be reviewed in class.

Before & After School Conduct: Emphasis will be on safety, accountability, respectfulness, and kindness. Students are expected to be mindful of traffic, stay within designated areas, and show respect to our community.

Tardiness and Classroom Expectations: Punctuality is crucial. We will address excessive tardiness with a “No Privilege List,” and persistent issues may lead to a parent/student conference.

Your involvement in reinforcing these expectations at home is invaluable. With your support, combined with our in-class reviews, we are confident that our students will thrive in a respectful, responsible, and safe school environment.

Thank you for your attention and your continued partnership in fostering a positive school community.
