August 18 Blog Update
Greetings for the new school year at Buljan Middle School! A special welcome to all, including those who couldn't attend Back-to-School Night. Here's a brief overview of what you missed:
Our Vision & Mission:
We're dedicated to fostering a safe, positive learning environment that promotes responsibility, integrity, and a love for learning. Our mission is to provide students with quality education that addresses their diverse needs and prepares them for responsible citizenship.
AVID: Bridging Opportunities:
Our commitment to AVID means we're focused on holding students to high standards while offering academic and social support. This philosophy empowers students for college, careers, and global success.
PBIS: Nurturing Positive Behavior:
Through PBIS, we're enhancing student outcomes by creating a culture aligned with our BARK expectations: Be Safe, Accountable, Respectful, and Kind.
PLC: Educators Learning for Students:
Our educators are part of Professional Learning Communities, continuously improving their methods to ensure better student results.
This Year's Goals:
We're striving to improve Reading and Math performance, acknowledging students meeting BARK expectations, and aiding English Learners to progress.
We're excited about the year ahead and look forward to partnering with you. If you have questions, feel free to reach out.
Your Buljan Admin Team
Next week our students will start Second Step® Middle School, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills. Check out this parent letter for more information!
Student Planners
The student planners are here and we are excited to get them out to all our students. Being an AVID Demonstration Site, it is essential that all of our students have access to a planner. Having organization is a big part of being a successful student.
Similar to the required PE clothes, a student planner is a required student tool here at Buljan Middle School. We offer a planner for the price of $5.00.
However, if your student doesn't dig the student planner, that's OK. Any academic planner will do!
So, whether you want to spend $5.00 on an awesome and custom Buljan planner, OR you wish to buy your own, it's all good.
Please confirm that your student has access to a student planner as soon as possible. Monday would be great since we are having our 1st House Competition to see what house has the students with the most planners.
However, if you need more time, you got it :)
All students are required to have a student planner by Friday, August 25th.
Counseling & Wellness Corner:
Exciting news! Our Counseling & Wellness Team Back to School Letter is now available. Discover who we are, the services we offer, and how to reach us, all in one place.
Interested in joining the School Counseling Advisory Council? It is a diverse group of parents, staff, teachers, and community members who collaborate and provide feedback to enhance our school counseling program.
We're thrilled to announce that we'll be launching lunch clubs for students soon! Keep an eye out for more details coming your way in the upcoming weeks.
