April Drill, School Policy and Preparing for High School Updates

Image
Hello Bulldog Families, This week we are going to practice our lockdown drill on Friday during 1st period. A lockdown is called when there is a threat or hazard inside the school campus. The language used is “lockdown, locks, lights, out of sight.” The action requires ensuring doors are locked, moving students and staff out of the line of sight from windows, turning off all lights, and remaining quiet.   We practice drills to help build muscle memory in the event of a true emergency, and we practice in order for our school to identify gaps and areas of improvement. For more information about our safety procedures, please check out the safety information on our district website. Please reach out if you have any questions.  Important Reminder: Policy on Student Sales Activities at Buljan Middle School I am writing to remind all of our school's policy regarding the sale of items and exchange of money on campus by our students. Our goal is to maintain a focused and disruptio...

Solar Eclipse 4/8/2024

Important Notice: Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Safety Precautions at Buljan Middle School On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing. Our students will obviously be in school during this event, and our educators will take full advantage of this to make it a safe, learning experience for our students.  NASA-approved safety glasses have been ordered for students, and all teachers will work with them to ensure the safe viewing of the eclipse during the event. Please make sure to tell your child not to look directly at the sun during this event, or attempt to observe the eclipse without adult supervision and guidance. They should closely follow teacher instructions during the eclipse, especially those involving eye and eyewe...

Counseling & Wellness Corner✨ Thank you to all our families who made it to Parent Night on March 21st.  Our topic was Student Success & Wellbeing.   As partners in your child's education, we are excited to include you with improving student academic achievement and wellbeing. This event aimed to strengthen the partnership between home and school, and provide parents/guardians with practical tools to support their student's academic and personal growth. Thank you to all students, families and staff members who participated in our COLLEGE WEEK.  Our door decorating contest was exciting, and it was fun to do our lunchtime activities and explore our future plans during our College FAIR. RCSD is committed to providing quality education to its students. In an effort to achieve this goal, school staff or parents/guardians may refer students for counseling, or students may request counseling. The aim of the school counseling services is to help students have more e...

As we enter the final months of the school year, I want to emphasize the critical importance of consistent attendance for your child's success. Every day of learning matters, and regular attendance is key to ensuring they finish the year strong. With just April and May remaining, it's essential to maintain momentum and maximize every opportunity for learning. Attending school every single day is paramount for students' academic success and overall development. Here's why: Consistency in Learning: Regular attendance ensures students receive consistent instruction and stay on track with their learning objectives. Missing even a day can lead to gaps in understanding, making it challenging for students to catch up later. Building Habits: Regular attendance helps students develop important habits and routines that are crucial for success in school and beyond. It instills discipline, responsibility, and time management skills that are essential for academic and professional a...
